Star Signing – Hawks Welcome Back Angus Brandt

The Taylor Hawks have confirmed the return of a familiar face for at least the next fortnight with news today that star recruit Daniel Kickert has been de-registered while he deals with an injury he picked up in the season opener against Wellington Saints.

The Hawks are racing the clock to have Angus Brandt in uniform for this Sunday’s game against Taranaki Mountainairs.

Brandt is a past star for the Hawks and quickly confirmed his interest when the club reached out to him. The 208-centimetre forward was a tower of strength inside for the Hawks last season and will instantly add presence inside the paint.

“Angus is a very admired and well-loved member of the Hawks family, so it’s great news that he was available to help us out while Daniel recovers,” said Hawks GM, Amy Price.

The registration process for Brandt has commenced and should all paperwork be finalised in time the talented forward is expected to play this Sunday.

Following a successful college career, Brandt has carved out a formidable career in the Australian NBL with both Sydney Kings and Perth Wildcats.

“It’s great to see Angus playing once again in the Sal’s NBL,” said League GM, Justin Nelson.

“I originally saw Angus playing a number of years ago when I visited Oregon State University. He is a terrific young man and has developed into an extremely good player. He’s a great addition for the Hawks.”

Under NBL rules, once Daniel Kickert is free of injury and available to play again, the Hawks have to put a submission in writing to the League seeking his re-registration.
