Nuggets Keen For More Silverware With Strong 3X3 Team Named

The Otago Nuggets have already grabbed one piece of silverware in a disrupted 2020, and now they have their eyes firmly focused on another trophy at the coming Schick 3X3 Cup.

Backed by Van Aart Sycamore Lawyers, the Nuggets have named a strong team, headlined by the return of Sam Timmins, who previously played for the Franklin Bulls at the Sal's NBL Showdown.

Timmins will be joined by championship-winning heroes Kane Keil, Josh Aitcheson and Richie Rodger (pictured), forming a talented and athletic inside-outside roster that will create plenty of headaches for opposition teams.

Timmins was a force at the Showdown, collecting per game averages of 10.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.

The strength of the Nuggets looks to be in their ability to knock down the long ball, with Aitcheson (2.1 treys), Rodger (1.4 treys) and Keil (2.1 treys) all showing their shooting form at the Showdown with impressive per game averages from deep.

The re-emergence of the Nuggets has been one New Zealand's fairytale sporting stories of 2020 - could that story have another successful chapter?

The Schick 3X3 Cup will be played at ILT Stadium Southland between November 12-14.
