Hawks thrash Jets

The Taylor Hawks have come out firing with a comprehensive 103-70 win over the Go Media Jets.

After clinching a playoff spot a couple of days ago, the Hawks put up 30 points in the first quarter. The Hawks defence was also locked in holding the Jets to 12, Jarrod Kenny in particular made it tough on the league leading scorer, Daishon Knight, who was pressured heavily in the first half.

The second quarter would be much the same, as the Jets found themselves in a massive hole, trailing by 30 at halftime.

Both Knight (27 points) and Kuran Iverson (22 points) would have better second halves, but at that point it would be purely academic, as coach Zico Coronel was able to rotate his bench and rest his starters.

It was a comprehensive performance from the Hawks who would hit 16 three-pointers, Dion Prewster led the way with 17, Mitch Newton would add 13 and veteran sharpshooter Everard Bartlett would hit four treys for 12 points.

After being competitive over the last couple of weeks, the Jets regressed this afternoon, and would too often revert going one on one against the Hawks. The Jets struggled from three making only 3/24 attempts.

The win moves the Hawks to 10-6, and they will finish the regular season with a road game against the Wheeler Motor Rams and a home game against the Augusta Airs.

The Jets drop 3-14, and next week will end their season hosting the 2 Cheap Cars Supercity Rangers are also 3-14, the winner will avoid the wooden spoon.
