GAME RECAP: Jets Go Supersonic to Down Rams

The Property Brokers Manawatu Jets continued their fine mid-season form with a comfortable win in a hostile environment over the Wheeler Motor Company Canterbury Rams at Cowles Stadium on Saturday night.

The Rams home crowd were loud from the off, led by the noise from the Rams own bench as they looked to instil a fortress feel to Cowles Stadium. The Jets however, were unperturbed by the chaos around them, as they settled into their work nicely in the first quarter, taking a lead that they would never relinquish.

Guards Robert Crawford, Pafe Momoisea and Tu Kaha Cooper remained calm under the Rams signature on-ball pressure, while nothing seems to faze big John Bohannon who gobbled up rebounds, dished dimes, and made buckets from the get-go to the let-go.

In the third quarter, the Jets couldn't miss, as Shane Temara dropped three after three on the Rams scrambling defence. Bohannon got in on the party as the lead became eventually unassailable for the home team.

Sunday Dech did his utmost to claw the rams back into the game, putting on an individual performance worthy of more than a mention. But the Rams lacked any real help from beyond the arc, and for the most part dealt in two-pointers while the Jets piled in the threes.

The Jets join the Saints with a 3-6 record, while the Rams drop to 5-5.
