Game Preview: Jets vs Huskies – Thursday April 18 @ 7pm

GAME PREVIEW
There will be plenty of eyes on this game to open R2 with the incoming Southern Huskies stepping out for their first ever game in the Sal’s NBL. Waiting for them will be the Manawatu Jets, who showed patches last week, but ultimately got stung by inconsistency against the Rangers last week. Wally Ellenson looks a good addition, while Kuran Iverson will be better for the run. Thane Samuel and the Temara brothers will also relish having that first game under their belt. For the Huskies it remains a total unknown. The Tassie visitors have enjoyed plenty of hype surrounding their entry into the league, but the time has now come for them to show us what they’ve got. Expect plenty of interested onlookers as the Huskies start a three-game four-day journey that will surely test them.

From The Coach – Tim McTamney
What a great honour it is to be the first New Zealand team to play the new Australian franchise from Tasmania. I am sure the people of Palmerston North will offer our visitors from the West Island a warm welcome. We were collectively disappointed with last week’s result and are intent on putting together a more polished performance than the one we produced against the Rangers. It was an effort that showed genuine signs of promise but was also subject to opening night nerves and a lack of cohesiveness at critical moments of the game. With new players joining the team during the week preceding the game, it was expected that we would take some time to reform some combinations.
