Fast Five – The Most Explosive Offensive Players

Who are this season's most explosive scorers in the Sal's NBL? The players who can turn it on in the blink of an eye and go on a scoring run?

In no particular order here's our top five Most Explosive Offensive Players.

1) Taylor Britt (Wheeler Motor Company Canterbury Rams)

Going at 21.9pts per game, Britt is as explosive as they come. His ability to rattle off quick baskets and they way he can drop long shots just as quickly as getting to the basket in dynamic fashion makes him one of the toughest players to stop. The Rams have a lot riding on Britt's 23-year old set of shoulders, and so far he has delivered in spades.

2) Derone Raukawa (Steelformers Taranaki Mountainairs)

Raukawa is leading the SkyCity MVP for a very good reason! The Airs playmaker leads all scorers at 22.9pts per game and he doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon. Just like Britt, Raukawa has an explosive turn of speed and is as deadly from beyond the arc as he is on getting to the basket. Raukawa's mid-range jumper is one of the best in the competition.

3)  Jayden Bezzant (Property Brokers, See Me Media Manawatu Jets)

It almost sounds like a broken record, but much like Britt and Raukawa, Bezzant has taken the competition by storm with his change of pace, ability to mix up his shots, his range and crafty skills. Bezzant is going at 22.1pts per game and shooting the three-ball at plus 42%. With ball in hand you always know Bezzant is going to do something creative and exciting. Time and time again he makes big plays when they count.

4) Tom Vodanovich (Property Brokers, See Me Media Manawatu Jets)

Britt, Raukawa and Bezzant are all point guards, so let's change things up a bit and look at one of the competition's most explosive forwards. Vodanovich has this season's top score (38pts) and is going at 21.1pts per game overall. Clearly the powerful forward has worked on his outside game as evidenced by his 4.1 triples per game at 42.9%, when he lights it up he is incredibly hard to stop. Equally, his physical presence makes him one of the hardest players to contain.

5) Marcel Jones (Steelformers Taranaki Mountainairs)

Jones was widely tipped to be the League's leading scorer and he is right in the mix at 20.1pts per game. On one occasion already this season we've seen Jones get off to a slow start, but in the blink of an eye he responds with a scoring run that has opposition teams not knowing what hit them. Like Vodanovich, Jones can mix it up as well, scoring both outside and in. When he has his eye in, Jones can control a game and lead his team to a win like few others.

Other notable offensive powerhouses include Jordan Ngatai (Nuggets - 20pts per game), Isaac Davidson (Bulls - 18pts per game), Izayah Le'afa (Huskies - 17.4pts per game), Mike Karena (Giants - 17.3pts per game) and Taane Samuel (Jets - 16.8pts per game).
